
Don Ricketts graduated from Providence College, Providence, R.I.; Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C.; and the University of Southern California Institute of Business Economics, Los Angeles . He is admitted to practice law in California, Massachusetts, other state courts (to handle specific suits), and several Federal courts. (He is also certified as a Master Gardener by the University of California Cooperative Extension. )
For approximately 15 years he was employed as General Counsel, Trial for the Santa Fe Railway and Senior Trial Counsel for Travelers, Great American and Farmers Insurance Companies.
He has maintained a private practice for 35 years restricted to civil lawsuits, with an emphasis on complex class actions that have recovered millions of dollars for consumers and stopped unfair practices. He has tried, to a jury verdict, approximately 100 cases and settled hundreds more.
He has written for popular and professional publications and has been counsel in a number of published appellate opinions (see attached). He has acted as a Judge Pro Tem in Los Angeles County Superior Court (Valencia) and is a judge at an annual national moot court competition sponsored by Southwestern University Law School and the law firm of Greene Broillet & Wheeler, LLP.
He was the subject of a lengthy profile in Los Angeles' leading legal newspaper, the Daily Journal.
He lives in Santa Clarita with his wife, Deborah. He has six children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
